Zippidity dippity Monday

Think another Gone With the Wind sequel is a bad idea? You’re not alone.

Some good news: one of the smartest people I know goes to the Maker Fair and calls it “the greatest event in the history of the world.”

The LBC summer nominations have been announced. Three most excellent books!

Jess Row is up at Five Chapters; the story gets a strong recommend from Bookfox.

Who woulda thunk? Mid-century madame memoirs.

Cecil Castellucci launches Beige, serves cupcakes, YA-age appropriate. But hey, even YA authors go for drinks afterward.

Norman Mailer would cut the entirety of Thomas Wolfe’s You Can’t Go Home Again. I’ve been waiting for someone to call it out as a bad book; I found it interminable, but people are usually precious about it. Thanks, Mailer. Also: Neal Pollack in the same NY Times piece. Hot damn.

Are you a blogging maggot? (psst, Jeff: how about some ladies shirts for those of us that aren’t pregnant?)

And the photo of the day, from Rhode Island:
