Miss Snark has gone deeper into the slush pile than anyone might expect: 560 hooks. She asked for ’em, she’s reading ’em, she’s providing feedback and is even soliciting pages from the best of the bunch. Oh, and there are 118 still to come.
After reading them in batches of a hundred at a time, my brain hurts. I can’t imagine Miss Snark’s mental state. I mean, my brain really really hurts.
Nevertheless, I urge everybody out there in not-published-yet land to dive in. There are invaluable insights into how agents read hooks. And how many hooks they have to read. And how many of those hooks are about vampires.
