How to help a book review

Who knows what the owners of the Chicago Tribune have in mind for the paper’s Book Review. But they’re asking what readers want, and if we read and like it, we should say so.

I wish the query were survey-style, rather than send-us-an-email, because it’ll be hard to aggregate the responses. So I’ve got a few suggestions for talking points (hey, if the Bush and his crew can stay on message, litbloggers are smart enough to, right?):

– I love the book review!
– more original reviews (the Chicago Tribune has been running reviews from the AP and their other papers)
– more coverage of local authors (because the NY Times isn’t running to Chicago for new books)
– and again, love reading the book review!

Leave your brilliant ideas in the comments. Or just send them to ctcbooks (at) tribune.com

PS I’ve never written for the Chicago Tribune book review, just so you know.
