I was at the Wafflehouse

paperhaus March 2nd, 2007

While Gwenda was responsibly blogging about the bus that drove off the overpass right next to our hotel, I was eating grits. Soon all of us remaining at the Days Inn are heading back to AWP, freeway permitting.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Times has announced the nominees for its book awards. Cool list. Must fly.

Now tell me, wouldn’t California be a better place with Wafflehouses? Why do you think I left the Golden State? I was tired of driving to Yuma for my WH fix.

I’ve often wondered why Wafflehouse’s aren’t out here in Cali. Closest thing we have is Roscoe’s Chicken ‘N Waffles — which are awesome, but you’d think there’d be room on the SoCal roadside somewhere for a Wafflehouse come on now!

    Hell, now I’m hungry.

Regarding the L.A. Times book award announcements… I know NY is the literary capital and all that jazz, but it still seems ridiculatious that they had to go all the way over there to do the deed?

Isn’t california a bit pretentious for a waffle house. The waffle house isn’t just about the food, it’s about the atmosphere. Working at number 81 off and on again for about 6 years, one can see it all. All walks of life visit the waffle house, and all walks of life work at the waffle house. It’s not the food so much (though if the grill cook is great, so is the food), it’s the fun. Name it and i’ve seen it. There isn’t much that surprises me anymore.
